Product DescriptionA lot of people have been disappointed by brightening products. Photoshop marketing is easier and cheaper than formulating a brightening cream that needs expensive and specialized ingredients. The right ingredients need to be included at the correct concentration.
In addition to wrinkles or lines, uneven skin tone – dark spots, sun spots and pigmentation can also make the skin look a little old and less vibrant. This is why skin brightening or lightening products have become popular.
This cream starts as our all natural moisturiser. We then stir through three of the best natural brightening ingredients in their full concentration.
The ingredients we chose work gradually. Most of the studies on the ingredients are done over a 3-4 months period.
Will they be effective for you? Everyone is different. We encourage you to do your own research on the ingredients to see whether this cream is worth trying for you. MooGoo is one of the few companies that show every ingredient on our website, not just the herbal looking ones.
Please Note: While using brightening creams, try and avoid sun exposure. Wear a good hat and if going into direct sun, apply a sunscreen. We have not added sunscreen chemicals to this cream so that it remains natural and healthy for every day use.
Healthy and Effective Ingredients
Three Powerful Natural Brightening Ingredients Blended Through An All Natural Moisturiser:
Alpha Arbutin is usually derived from the Field Dock Plant. It is purified to increase its effectiveness and arrives to us as a white powder which we can mix through the water in the moisturiser.
What is it?
Originally from the Field Dock plant.
What is it?
This ingredient is derived from Indian Gooseberry which is a plant often used in Ayurvedic Medicine. However, rubbing Indian Gooseberry on the skin won’t do a thing. We use a concentrated standardised extract of Emblica which concentrates the compounds needed. It is also used in some anti-ageing creams (at a lower concentration) as it is an extremely effective anti-oxidant.
Ascobyl Tetraisopalmitate (VC-IP)
What is it?
One of our favourite ingredients. As most people know, Vitamin C is one of the best anti-oxidants. What most people don’t know however is that Vitamin C is normally water soluble and NOT soluble in oil. So when most forms of Vitamin C are applied to the skin, which is protected by our oil layer, it won’t get in. Ascobyl Tetraisopalmitate is a special form of Vitamin C that is soluble in Oil, so it can mix with the oil on our skin and penetrate through.
At lower concentrations, this ingredient works as an anti-ageing anti-oxidant.
Aqua, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera), Cetearyl Alcohol, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Emblica Officinalis Fruit Extract, Hydrolysed Milk Protein, Alpha-Arbutin, Stearic Acid, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Polysorbate 60 (Food Grade Emulsifier), Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate (Stabilised Vitamin C), Piroctone Olamine, Allantoin, Coco-Caprylate (Coconut Based Conditioner), Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract.
|Aqua||When we were told that we have to call our purified water “Aqua” we thought they were kidding. But we can’t fight bureaucracy. So we aren’t trying to be fancy, but we do need to call our water “Aqua” sometimes.|
|Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil||Apricot kernel oil is a finely textured oil and is easily absorbed by the skin, without leaving it feeling oily or greasy. Apricot kernel oil is particularly helpful for dehydrated, delicate, mature and sensitive skin and it helps to soothe inflammation. Apricot Kernel Oil is rich in oleic and linoleic essential fatty acids.|
|Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil||Wonderfully healthy for the skin. So many benefits, it might be best to Google "Olive Oil Skin" instead.|
|Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera)||Most people already know the healing and soothing benefits of Aloe Vera. We loved it before we made skin care, and we love it in our creams.|
|Cetearyl Alcohol||Creams are made from a mix of purified water and oils so as to be more moisturising than oil alone. To hold water and oils together, they need an emulsifying wax. We use a plant based wax that allows the water and oils to stay together.|
|Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract||A natural stringent.|
|Emblica Officinalis Fruit Extract||This ingredient is derived from Indian Gooseberry which is a plant often used in Ayurvedic Medicine. However, rubbing Indian Gooseberry on the skin won’t do a thing. We use a concentrated standardised extract of Emblica which concentrates the lightening compounds. The studies below found similar effectiveness to Hydroquinone. The beauty of this ingredient is that, unlike Hydroquinone (which is banned in Europe), Emblica is edible and non-irritating and so very healthy for the skin. It is also used in some anti-ageing creams (at a lower concentration) as it is an extremely effective anti-oxidant.|
|Hydrolysed Milk Protein||Cognis research found that milk protein in a cream increased skin elasticity by around 20% compared to the same cream without. Skin elasticity ensures lines and wrinkles are minimized after any movement of the skin.
For people with Lactose intolerance this is no problem. However for people that are allergic to Milk Protein itself, this ingredient would not be suitable. If in doubt, all natural products should be patch tested before use.
|Alpha-Arbutin||One of the most effective and safest lightening ingredients. Originally from the Field Dock plant. Though it is a very expensive ingredient to manufacture, even at very low concentrations, a-arbutin to aleviate hyperpigmentation.|
|Stearic Acid||This is a fatty wax that holds all of the oils and water together. Without it, our cream would fall apart. It also happens to be very softening on the skin.|
|Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil||Used to soften and condition the skin. Rich in anti-oxidants, it is also a skin protectant, rich in gamma-oryzanol. This helps protect and replenish your skin. Rice Bran oil can be an effective substitute for lanolin, and can help soothe redness discomfort. It's a wonderful oil for itchy "alligator" skin.|
|Polysorbate 60 (Food Grade Emulsifier||A lot of our customers are small. So small in fact that they have sometimes mistaken the creams their mums or dad’s put on the nappy change table for food. So we always choose the most edible ingredients we can. Polysorbates are used in a lot of foods like Mayonnaise, Ice-cream etc to hold the cream and water together. We use them to help with the same thing.|
|Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate (Stabilised Vitamin C)||Anti-Oxidants help prevent skin oxidisation and so in theory can help prevent the signs of ageing. The difficulty is developing ingredients that can stay stable long enough to penetrate the skin to work their magic. Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate is the latest and most expensive form of the Vitamin C anti-oxidant. It also helps with pigmentation. A typical study is shown here.|
|Piroctone Olamine||Piroctone Olamine is an anti-yeast ingredient. Non-irritating, it also helps keep the cream free from bacteria and mould.|
|Allantoin||Comfrey Root has long been associated with soft, healthy skin. Allantoin is a skin conditioner that has been purified from comfrey. Allantoin is thought to help maintain healthy skin by encouraging the removal of dead skin cells. It is also promoted for preventing lines and wrinkles by assisting in skin repair.|
|Coco-Caprylate (Coconut Based Conditioner)||This coconut oil derived ingredients gives the skin a smooth finish. It is an alternative to the silicones uses in many creams. Silicone coats the skin in an occlusive slippery layer, while Coco Caprylate is much more moisturising and cool feeling on the skin.|
|Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract||Cosmetic creams need to stay pure from bacteria. That is why ingredients like Parabens etc are used by a lot of companies. These work great at achieving their aim, but a lot of our “customers” prefer not to use them. We worked for over a year to develop a preservation system based on Hop Extract. All our creams have now been checked for preservative efficacy using the British Pharmacopeia test. We are very proud that we are probably one of the first companies to develop this natural and edible anti-bacterial system into our creams.|
|Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract||Although often claimed as an anti-ageing ingredient, we aren’t totally convinced. But it does smell amazing, so we put in some of our creams as it combines well with the Hops Extract (our natural preservative).|
Apply to moist skin after washing the face at night. Can be applied twice a day. This cream also acts as an all natural moisturiser. All natural products should be patch tested for allergies before use.
