Buttermilk soap is especially good for people that have had dry skin, or develop dry skin from the sun or air-conditioning. Skin should never be dried out as it becomes more prone to lines and wrinkles.
Tip: These are big bars of Milk Soap (130g) so they last longer. Some people with smaller hands or children may find it easier if the bar is cut into two pieces.

Because we make our products for our families, we have a strict ingredient philosophy that excludes ingredients like Parabens, Phenoxyethanol and penetration enhancers.
We show all of the ingredients we use in our products on our website, not just the pretty ones. That way you know exactly what's in each one, and can get in touch if you have any more questions.
Please be aware that the ingredients we use in our formulas may be updated occasionally and therefore vary from time to time. Please refer to the ingredient list on the product packaging for the most up-to-date and relevant list of ingredients.
I’m Lactose intolerant. Are MooGoo products safe for me to use?
Almost all of our products do not contain milk, except for our Fresh Milk Cleansing Bars so it may be best to avoid these. Instead, we recommend using our Milk Wash as it contains no milk or Milk Protein.
If you have an allergy to Milk Protein (rather than Lactose) you may want to choose creams without Milk Protein. They include the Eczema & Psoriasis Cream, Soothing MSM Moisturiser and Scalp Cream
Are your Cleansing Bars made of milk?
We aren't called MooGoo because our cleansers are made of milk. If you think about it, putting any meaningful amount of fresh milk into a product and putting it on a shelf in a store for a while would not end well – yuck! Our Cleansing Bars do contain fresh milk, but the fresh milk will not go rotten because the saponified oils prevent bacteria from forming.
Are your Cleansing Bars suitable to use on the face?
Yes, all our cleansing products are suitable for use on the face and body. In general, most generic body cleansers and cleansing bars are made with very average, cheap detergents that clean the skin. While skin, of course, needs to be cleaned, it doesn't need to be done with harsh ingredients that strip the skin of its natural oils, often leaving it tight and dry. BUT, if your cleanser is made with high-quality, skin-friendly, natural ingredients like ours are, then YES, they're absolutely suitable for use on the more delicate skin of the face, and also suitable for all ages, skin types and genders – the whole family!
Which is better, a soap or a cleanser?
While the alkaline nature of soap can make it a more effective as a hand wash, all cleansers have the molecular structure that breaks down the membrane barrier of dirt, impurities, bacteria and viruses, as well as the mechanical action of washing them away with water. So basically, soap and cleansers both work in the same way to wash your skin and keep you clean. What you use mostly comes down to personal preference. Wash products have become more popular over the years, but sometimes it's good to have a cleansing bar on hand, and they also provide a plastic-free packaging option.
Can your Cleansing Bars be used as a handwash?
Yes, all our Cleansing Bars can be used as an effective anti-bacterial hand wash. Soap is made through a process called saponification, causing the soap to have a higher pH level than our skin. Soap molecules work by bonding to the lipid membrane of foreign microbes, then wedging into it and prying it apart. The soap molecules surround the fragments of the destroyed microbe creating encapsulating bubbles, rendering them ineffective and allowing them to be washed off your hands and down the drain. While the alkaline nature of soap can make it more effective when it comes to removing dirt and impurities, all cleansers have the molecular structure to perform the chemical reaction we just described. So, this means that soaps and cleansers work in the same way.
Why do Cleansing Bar boxes have holes in them, and only a 3-month expiry date?
Soap is made through a process called saponification which keeps it free from bacteria so plastic, airtight packaging is not required. This is a great option for anyone looking for a plastic-free cleanser. The hole in the box allows air to circulate around the soap to ensure it doesn't start sweating and gathering condensation, which can happen to natural soaps in warmer temperatures. The hole in the box also allows you to smell our wonderful soaps (if shopping in-store) before making a purchase or taking them out of the packaging. The 3-month expiry date for our soaps begins from when you start using the soap with water.
My Cleansing Bar has condensation on it. Is it still effective and safe to use?
Sometimes natural soaps can start to sweat, forming condensation on its surface when exposed to warmer temperatures. This sweat can sometimes be absorbed by our plastic-free packaging and make the box look wet or stained. The hole in the side of our Cleansing Bar boxes is there to allow air to circulate around the soap to reduce the occurrence of sweating, but sometimes it's unavoidable. At any time if your soap starts to sweat, this is nothing to be concerned about. The formation of condensation on the soap does not change its effectiveness and they're still perfectly safe to use.
Why don't we make different cleansers for different skin types?
We often get asked why we don’t make different cleanser specific to different skin types such as dry, oily, normal or combination skin. While we believe that people have different skin types and different skin needs, if you look closely at ingredient labels, you’ll notice that there often isn't much difference between products specifically made for each variation. In our opinion, we don’t think all the different types of cleansers are needed if you have a good formula (we think ours are pretty darn good). A cleanser made for oily skin would have a higher concentration of cleansers than one made for dry skin, but you can achieve much the same result by varying the amount of cleanser you use or washing your skin twice, if needed.
