Anti-Bacterial Hand Moisturiser 100ml

Add to Milk Pail
Alcohol based hand washes are effective at killing bacteria, the same goes for soap and water if you have time. But after discovering that a large number of nurses and practitioners were reporting skin problems due to repeated use of alcohol on their hands, we set out to make a natural anti-bacterial cleanser that protected the skin, whilst being as effective as alcohol in a time kill study.

We spent 2 years experimenting and trialling a variety of natural blends and carriers before we achieved the results shown below on a time kill test of bacteria.

We started with a moisturising base of Aloe Vera and Natural Vitamin E. We then added a blend of 5 different essential oils, each targeting different types of bacteria. (If we were a little more Big Pharma perhaps we would call this blend “MooDermaplex 2” and put a patent down.)

When it comes to fragrance, we know everyone has their own preferences. Some find it crisp and fresh, while others prefer odourless. We’re aware that this blend may not be to everyone’s liking, but thought it most important to cater for those who have troubles with other hand washes. In order to receive some feedback, MooGoo sent approximately 20 bottles to nurses and practitioners who volunteered to give their honest opinion. We have attached their responses here so you can see the range of opinions.

Make sure all “organic” matter is removed (dirt) and massage the cream onto the hands. Ensure you get both the tips and in between the fingers. Rub until absorbed, it’s as easy as that! Germs be gone!

Ingredient Description
Aqua When we were told that we have to call our purified water “Aqua” we thought they were kidding. But we can’t fight bureaucracy. So we aren’t trying to be fancy, but we do need to call our water “Aqua” sometimes.
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Soothing) Aloe Vera. Most people already know the soothing benefits of Aloe Vera. We loved it before we made skin care, and we love it in our creams.
Sclerotium Gum (natural thickener) One of our favourite moisturising oils. It helps leave your skin moisturised and dewy.
Our body produces a small amount of squalene, but the amount diminishes when we get older, starting in our twenties. Squalene is required for our skin to keep it moisturised and fight aging. It is also a unique antioxidant from olives that helps to protect our skin from the external environment.
Since Olive squalene's composition is very similar to human sebum, it can help our skin to fight dryness.
Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Oil Part of an a special blend of Essential Oils required to kill different types of bacteria.
Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea tree) Oil We use a small amount of Tea Tree Oil in our Scalp Cream for freshness and to help lossen the dead skin and flakes.
Citrus Sinensis (Orange) Oil Part of an a special blend of Essential Oils required to kill different types of bacteria.
Piroctone Olamine Piroctone Olamine is an anti-yeast ingredient. Non-irritating, it also helps keep the cream free from bacteria and mould.
Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E) We use the more expensive, natural Vitamin E in our creams, not synthetic. Natural Vitamin E has up to twice the bioavailability of synthetic forms. Vitamin E has antioxidant action as well as free radical scavenger properties. Abundant assortments of researchers from diversified medical fields have theorized that this can slow the aging process. (Sources: Skin Pharmacology and Applied Skin Physiology, November-December 2001, and Free Radical Biology and Medicine, October 1999).
Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract Cosmetic creams need to stay pure from yeast and mould. We worked for over a year to develop a preservation system based on Hop Extract. All our creams have now been checked for preservative efficacy using the British Pharmacopeia test.
Citrus Limonum (Lemon) Oil Part of an a special blend of Essential Oils required to kill different types of bacteria.
Rosmarinus Essential Oil Part of an a special blend of Essential Oils required to kill different types of bacteria.
Officinalis (Rosemary) Oil A calming and soothing oil for the skin when diluted.
Apple Cider Vinegar We added this originally to lower pH to that of the skin. But we also love the smell of the cream with this and honey.

We have made 2 sizes. 270g for home or work and a 100g travel size. (Most travellers know one of the best ways to avoid getting sick is to wash the hands before eating or drinking).
